Insect Control treated fabric. Ripstop is our most durable fabric and great for a horse who is tough on their rug.

Poly/Cotton blend with approximately 70% polyester and 30% cotton. Polyester adds the strength and longevity of your rug, while the cotton is a great porous fabric. We have found this to be the best blend of strength and absorption and resistant to ripping and tearing.

I would like to thank Wild Horse Australia for the invention of the insect repellent rug range. I have a 15.3h warmblood mare who has always had a bad reaction to mosquitos. I had tried EVERYTHING and resided to the fact I would never be able to compete her as she had hardly any hair left on her face and front legs. She would tear a summer rug to bits every 10-12 weeks from scratching on anything from trees, fencing or the side of her stable. I was hesitant on spending that sort of money on a summer rug because she does wreck them but she has had her rug and full fly mask for 3 weeks and I can confirm her hair on her face is growing back, there are no lumps on her neck and she is so much happier. I have since also bought the leg protectors and 2/3 of the lumps on her front legs have gone and the hair is growing back. I can’t believe it has worked this quickly. Thank you so much!!

Protects sensitive skin from horrid bug bites!! My horse has a very fine coat and delicate skin which reacted quite badly to the tiniest bite. No more!!
The only query I’d have is that it’s a very generous fit. My horse wears a 6.3″ rug really well yours however, appears too big for her. I’m not complaining as it covers more of her and protects more too.

I have an ott mare that was covered head to tail in itch, but using the rug for the past week has healed a lot up as she no longer itches and the midges aren’t able to bite her. Fits very well, especially the long neck!! I have tried A LOT of products for itch and various rugs, but this is the first to work.

These rugs are well made, durable and excellent for Qld itch.
The insect repellent qualities only last 6-9 months. Due to this issue, I think they are a little overpriced
Suggestion- some mesh over the eye holes of the hood would be a good idea to make them suitable as a fly mask also

The best rugs I have used, cleared up any itch my horse had. Only shame can not get a tail bag attached

A potential 5 star light weight rug! I buy your ‘Insect Control Ripstop – Rug, Hood & Ears’
either direct or through saddlery’s. They are one of the best light rugs available on the market today.

Mare very sensitive to Qld. itch has been in rug/hood/belly protector for 2 months, NSW. This is December and so far OK. Jan – March are worst months so wait and see. But looking good. Strap behind ears holding hood is too short, otherwise 6′ fit is good for 15.2 chunky horse.

ripstop rug hood and ears – well made, good fit. Fits my TB horse perfectly. he needs to cotton material instead of mesh to give full protection against biteing insects. a slightly thicker ripstop version would be good plus tailbag attachment.

My rug exceeded expectations. I purchased rug for the insecticide technology but was surprised at the extra bonuses with the fit. The rug design is great, especially the hood attachment. The Velcro on the chest straps and hood plus the elasticity of the leg straps are terrific. The tail flat is very generous as well. All these are great for my itchy pony who I might add is now enjoying an itch free life!
