  1. Barb

I have used both the 3 dart & 2 dart fly veils. I like both of them & so do the horses. The 3 dart has a better dome effect over the eyes, allowing more space for blinking. As we have millions of stable flies, the horses have to wear their veils everyday for at least 6 months. They last many seasons. The elastic under the chin is excellent, stopping the horses from losing it in the paddock. There is no chafing around the nose, ears or forehead. I have used numerous other brands & designs which last one season maximum & collapse or are worn out. These veils are the best I have ever used.

I have used the 2 dart for a couple of years and love the quality – they never collapse over the eye and stand up to paddock conditions really well.
The only downside for me is that they are not wide enough across the top between the darts for my broad headed ISH ‘s. To make the darts really effective and sit out over their eyes, I make a 6cm cut through the middle of the browband and into the mesh, spread it out to a ‘v’ shape and secure it with the soft loop side of sticky Velcro. I then stitch it in place and I then have the extra width I need at the top of the veil. Perfect fit!
I have tried just using the x-full size but that is too big all round and the horses can rub them off on a post or tree.

I have to say, we have tried quite a few brands over the years here at Waterfall Creek Horse Retirement and Boarding (www.waterfallcreek.com.au), but have decided you can’t beat the Wild Horse 2 dart fly veils. Excellent fit, excellent workmanship, excellent durability, excellent visibility More expensive than most brands, but in my opinion they are worth the money. (We did try the 3 dart, but felt they were not as good a cut and fit as the 2 dart and have come back to the 2 dart – very glad they have started to be made again!)

We are very happy with this fly veil, great with the double eye darts to stop the veil rubbing on our horses’ eyes. Also find the triple lock velcro great, especially for one of our horses. Other fly veils were destroyed in a day or constantly coming off him. Only wish you made the same fly veil design for our miniature pony. He has to put up with fly veils that are too big across his forehead and the single dart design permanently folding over his eyes. It must be so annoying for him, also the loss of good all round vision.

These fly veils are worth every cent. Quality product that fits perfectly!

Since discovering these flyveils, I have not used anything else. Finally a flyveil that fits well and hold its shape, year after year, never folding down into the eyes! Our original purchases have now done 3 complete fly seasons and show no wear and no loss of shape. Very happy; all of our horses now have their very own Wild Horse Australia flyveil.

My horses usually go through a number of fly veils in a year, so I was hesitant to start using these because they weren’t cheap. However, now that I’ve bit the bullet, I’m quite happy to get some more of them. Be aware, these don’t contain repellent, but don’t think it’s needed in a fly veil.

These give horses excellent vision as opposed to the plasticy nylon mesh ones I’ve bought in the past. The fit is nicely adjustable and the soft lining over the poll and nose doesn’t collect too many grass seeds, unlike those stupid fluffy types you can get. Mine has been on for about 3 months and hasn’t lost its shape in the least.

The velcro is almost impossible for a horse to undo on its own, can even be quite a job for me to undo it. However, it’s elasticised so would pull off in an emergency (I’m guessing mine hasn’t come off once yet).

Give one a try – it’ll be hard to go back!
